It is a low shank machine and I was able to get a generic walking foot for it. The backlit lcd screen is very nice and easy to read - not too dim or too small. I purchased this to help my wife so she would have less pain when cutting fabric for online sale due to severe carpal tunnel and hand pain. For the price she hasn't been able to use it much. It rolls over the surface and it does do the cutting but there is nothing to control the fabric being cut while you control the cutting machine. I think it should be emphasized more that this is a product more for cutting thick cloth projects. I was actually considering the Brother CS6000I before I had even heard of the Janome 7330. At the time there were 97 reviews on Amazon for the Brother CS6000I and I read every one. I was concerned b/c the low rated Brother reviews and even many of the 4 and 5 star reviews complained about the machine's tension and a finicky bobbin. The last thing I wanted to deal with was a touchy machine. If you read the reviews, without looking at the stars, most of them talk about the machine's quirks. I am very pleased with this machine. I had a TACSEW hemmer that lasted me for 12 plus years. The RELIABLE is a good as the TACSEW. I do reccomend this machine. One thread guide was missing. The pigtail guide was not on the machine or in the box. I was able to take the guide off the TACSEW machine and use it on the RELIABLE machine. That missing guide would make the machine unusable and the inexperienced user would not know why the machine didn't work right, which may be why another poster sent back two machines claiming they were broken. I do alterations for local drycleaners and use the machine daily. (The bucket is on the right side, and you can put the paper towel holder on either side.) Adding to the confusion, the center mast is installed backward for shipping. You have to unscrew the knob behind it, pull it out and turn it around so that the bottom ledge for your canvas is in front.Once we got that all sorted out, I found that the holes to attach the top half to the bottom do not line up, and the "long" screws are too short. I had to widen the holes with a drill, making it a bit less sturdy, but at least now the top is attached. That said, the shelves are excellent for storage. The easel is not bad for me at 5'3, but would probably be even better for a taller person. The base is very sturdy and supports a fair amount of weight. When i push the footpedal down more, the fabric stays mostly striaght. you would think that with a slower speed it wouldnt want to pull...im a new sewer so i know that, with practice, i will be able to sew in a straight line.also the footpedal design is flawed...severely. I actually had to return the first machine i purchased. The way they attached the connector to the power source (when you plug in the footpedal into the machine) is bent so, over time, the footpedal will not work because the connection is not entirely solid.
